Gabriela is currently involved in an academic research project regarding citizen participation in public policies and works part time at CTS-México.

She is completing her last semester of studies in international relations at the Tecnológico de Monterrey. As the vice president of her major's students' association, she was the main organizer of the first Human Rights Colloquium, an event that led them to win the prize for best association in 2007. In 2008, she attended the IV UNESCO-Global Intergenerational Human Rights Forum, a platform for young leaders on human rights across the world.

She has also worked as volunteer for international organizations such as Ashoka and the United Nations Department of Public Information for NGOs. In 2006 she was awarded an excellence scholarship in Tecnológico de Monterrey due to her academic performance and relevant involvement in extracurricular activities.
