“Waterfront Synopsis” will focus on the topic of Placemaking and Sustainability, bringing the forces of environmentalism, climate change, and sustainability together with the ideas of community, livability, health and Placemaking. Many people around the world are realizing the impacts of “Place” and “Placemaking” as a transformative agenda for creating change in cities.
The goal of the conference is for participants to learn about waterfront developments that create a sense of place, strategies to incorporate local entrepreneurs into projects, and how developers and city agencies can work together more effectively to implement a common vision. The intent is to provide practical ideas for people who want to “do” and not just “talk.”

The Pro Walk/Pro Bike 2010 conference's theme this year is Bringing Livable Communities and Regions to Scale. Chattanooga and the southeast region will serve up examples of what can be done in small and mid-size cities and rural regions to make livable communities come to life.
We're looking to showcase good bike/ped projects that were built with stimulus money; trans-discipline approaches to building livable communities; programs and approaches that can demonstrate promising environmental and policy solutions, and ensure meaningful results to the people who are affected; projects that make it possible for people of all ages and abilities to walk and bike everywhere all the time.

This International Conference, the first of its kind, is bringing together leading thinkers and sharing transport practitioners from around Taiwan, Asia and the world, to examine the concept of shared transport (as opposed to individual vehicle ownership or established forms of public transport) from a multi-disciplinary perspective, with a strong international and Chinese-speaking contingent.
The concept of shared transport is at once old and new, formal and informal, but above all one that is growing very fast. Something important is clearly going on, and the Kaohsiung event will look at this carefully, in the hope of providing a broader strategic base for advancing not just the individual shared modes (e.g., car/share, ride/share, bike/share, street/share, taxi/share, etc.), but of combining them to advance the sustainable transport agenda of our cities more broadly.

The aim of the European Mobility Week campaign is to encourage public awareness of the need to act against pollution caused by increased motorized traffic in the urban environment. In fact, it is not just a question of fighting atmospheric or noise pollution but also of improving the quality of urban life.
Accordingly, the event is designed to :
- encourage the use of alternative forms of transport and travel other than private cars,
- raise awareness and inform city-dwellers of what is at stake so far as concerns long-term mobility in towns and the risks connected with pollution,
- show the town in another light thanks in particular to reduced motorized traffic within restricted areas.
EMB provides an opportunity for all the participating cities and towns to show how much environmental issues affect them. The week will allow them to express themselves on such matters and at the same time give citizens an opportunity to show their support, through interest and involvement, of measures for better quality of life in the urban environment.

This year ‘Flanders Inspiration & Innovation’ is organized for the 6th time. It is an annual project, supported by the Flemish government, with science, creativity and innovation as main subjects. This year ‘Innovation in Mobility’ will be the theme that will be put in the spotlights during the whole event. Almost a complete hall of Flanders Expo will be transformed into a huge Science Village, where exhibitors and visitors with a shared passion for the different aspects of mobility will join each other in an informal and spontaneous mood.
The climax of the Accenta annual fair for business people is a Business to Business evening on Thursday 16th September 2010

What:
PARK(ing) Day began in 2005 when Rebar, a San Francisco art collective, converted a single metered parking space into a temporary public park in an area of San Francisco that is underserved by public open space.
Back then the project was named simply PARK(ing), and was devised as a creative exploration of how urban public space is allocated and used. For example, up to 70% of San Francisco’s downtown outdoor space is dedicated to the vehicle, while only a fraction of that space is allocated to the public realm. Paying the meter of a parking space enables one to lease precious urban real estate on a short-term basis. What is the range of possible activities for this short-term lease?
Since 2005, the project has grown into PARK(ing) Day, an annual worldwide phenomenon, created independently by groups of artists, activists and citizens.

Green Mobility, in cooperation with the Brazilian National Association on Public Transport (ANTP), is organizing the European Green Mobility Tour 2010.
In 10 days the tour will visit a series of events and projects related to sustainable urban mobility. One of the largest fairs in transport innovation and technology, INNOTRANS Exhibition, will be held as well as the International Symposium on Mobility Network of the University of Stuttgart, and get to know more than 20 successful programs and initiatives on mobility management and planning in Germany, such as the electric vehicle system, "E-mobility Berlin", programs on intermodal sharing, and Green City projects of Nuremberg and Freiburg. Solutions that are transforming German cities in world references on sustainable, low carbon transport will be seen in practice.

World Car Free Day will be an opportunity to find another way for just one day to get around town, leave the car at home and walk, take a bus, train or cycle around town. All this is to help highlight the pollution caused by cars, not just the fumes but the whole cycle of waste and disruption, the noise, delayed journeys, the whole human misery caused by traffic congestion and car pollution. Almost 40% of the transport sector's CO2 emissions are produced by the use of private cars in cities.

What:
"The Future of Mobility: Necessity, Affordability, and Implementation"
Solutions to most of the current and future transportation problems cannot be found within only one single mode of transportation or within one single discipline. On the contrary, improvements in the direction of sustainable mobility require close interaction between the different transportation modes as well as the integration of the planning, technical, and socioeconomic fields. The effects of political decisions, the interaction of supply and demand, as well as technical and planning possibilities lead to interdependencies that can only be treated in the scope of system approaches and network solutions.
We encounter networks and interdependencies in all fields of transportation and mobility: in transport infrastructure with the interaction of road, rail, land use, and open space; in telematics and road pricing with their demanding information processes; in combined passenger and freight transport linking road and rail; in public transport with the conflicting requirements of the passengers and operators; and in politics with the interaction of transportation, the environment, and society.
