Involvement in Metrobús project recognized for "Best Environmental Performance”

CTS-México received the “Mejor Actuación Ambiental” ("Best Environmental Performance") award from Fundación MAPFRE, a private foundation sponsored by the Spanish insurance company, for its contribution to the Metrobús project in Mexico City.
The competition was open to organizations throughout Spain, Portugal and Latin America. More than 200 applicants competed for four awards. CTS-México was recognized for promoting sustainable mobility projects aimed at improving the environment and quality of life in Mexican cities. In particular, the foundation recognized CTS-México's involvement in the launch of Metrobús, a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system designed to reduce air pollution, greenhouse gas emissions and traffic while improving the quality of life for commuters. “We’re very excited about the prize, and very excited that the prize is offered by the MAPFRE foundation, which has a background in transportation given its extensive involvement promoting road safety across Latin America,” said Gabriel Mandujano, manager of strategic alliances for CTS-Mexico. “In many ways, CTS-Mexico and the MAPFRE foundation’s goals are very well aligned”
Fundación MAPFRE handed out three other prizes to honor the career of health professionals dedicated to trauma research and new techniques in orthopedic surgery, as well as to recognize institutions that contribute to sustainable development and overcome barriers to the integration of persons with disabilities.
Dr. José Palacios Carvajal received a lifetime achievement award for his international experience and professional training in orthopedics in Spain.
Dr. Enric Cáceres Palou was acknowledged for his work to improve the quality of life in elderly people who suffer from hip fractures.
Finally, the "Overcoming Barriers" award was given to Asociación Humanitaria de Enfermedades Degenerativas, Síndromes de la Infancia y Adolescencia (AHEDYSIA), an organization that improves quality of life and accessibility for people with neurodegenerative diseases.
