8th Annual International Congress on Sustainable Transport

EMBARQ, the World Resources Institute’s center for sustainable transport, will be co-hosting the 8th Annual International Conference on Sustainable Transport in coordination with Walk 21, the City of Mexico City, the Mexican Ministry of the Environment and Plan Verde.

Sustainable transport experts will convene in Mexico City to participate in this global gathering, highlighting this year's theme, "Step into the future," from September 27 - October 4.

Speakers will include:

  • Holger Dalkmann, Director, EMBARQ. Expertise: climate change, low carbon transport, development economics.
  • Janette Sadik-Khan: Commissioner, NYCDOT. Expertise: transport, infrastructure, inter-governmental policy.
  • Andrew Steer, President, World Resources Institute. Expertise: climate change, sustainable energy, multilateral development investment.
  • Jim Walker, CEO, Walk England. Expertise: pedestrian infrastructure, public health, urban policy.
  • Miguel Ángel Mancera, Mayor-Elect, Distrito Federal de México. Expertise: legal studies, public space, crime reduction.
  • Meleckidzedeck Khayesi, Technical Officer, WHO. Expertise: non motorized transport, academia, transport geography.
  • Paula Bisau, Sustainability Coordinator, City of Buenos Aires. Expertise: urban economics, non-motorized transport, environmental culture.
  • Hep Monatzeder, Vice Mayor, Munich. Expertise: Green Politics, health and transportation, public policy.
  • Kurt Van Dender , Director of Economics, World Transport Forum. Expertise: environmental economy, multi-national economic partnerships, sustainable urbanism.
