What:

The Sixth Regional Environmentally Sustainable Transport (EST) Forum in Asia will provide an opportunity to not only discuss and share the progress made by countries towards achieving the goals under the Bangkok 2020 Declaration, but also to further discuss the effective implementation of the Declaration. The Sixth EST Forum will be held in conjunction with the Urban Mobility India (UMI) 2011 Conference and Exhibition, an annual flagship event of the Ministry of Urban Development Government of India (MOUD-India).

The event is organized by the Ministry of Urban Development Government of India, United Nations Centre for Regional Development (UNCRD), World Health Organization South-East Asia Regional Office (WHO/SEARO), and the Ministry of the Environment Government of Japan. Supporting organizations include ITDP, TRL, and EMBARQ. Event speakers include EMBARQ Director Holger Dalkmann, and EMBARQ India Director Madhav Pai.

The FISITA World Automotive Summit is a unique annual meeting of automotive leaders. It brings some of the world's top technical executives together with scientists, public policy-makers and influential NGOs to work on an issue of central importance to the automobile and society. This year's chosen summit topic is the future of personal mobility. It will consider what the future holds for personal mobility in an increasingly urban, resource-constrained world and what this means, in turn, for automotive technology.

Summit speakers include Eva Molnar, Director of the UNECE Transport Division, Ana Flemer, Deputy Executive Director for Policy at the MTC of San Francisco, and Toni Lindau, Director of EMBARQ Brasil.

The Atlantic is hosting the fourth-annual Green Intelligence Forum: Creating the Sustainable City of the Future, once again bringing together the world's leading authorities on energy and the environment for two days of dynamic conversation on the issues at the forefront of sustainable thought. On the first day, the Forum will explore macro trends in energy and the environment, including discussions on both national and global policy and sustainable business. The following day, the event will examine green intelligence through the framework of sustainable cities. The International Trade Fair of Mass Transport will be held this year in Bogotá, Colombia, with the theme of “Integration, Intermodality and Humanization: Sustainable Axis of Urban Development.” Organized by Transmilenio S.A. with support from EMBARQ and SIBRT, among others, the fair serves as a meeting place for a variety of participants, including some of the world’s most experienced transport professionals and leaders. The three-days of fair festivities provide an environment for participants to share insights and opportunities in developing and managing integrated public transport systems. The fair also functions as a forum for suppliers, manufacturers, representatives and distributors of transport equipment, supplies, machinery and technology to share expertise, experiences, products, services, and contacts.

Featured speakers include Karen Stinz, Toronto Transportation Commissioner, Raimundo Cruzat Correa, Transantiago General Coordinator, and Luis Gutierrez, EMBARQ’s Latin America Strategic Director.

From November 3 to 6, 2011 the Americas Ciclovías Network (CRA) will hold its sixth meeting in Medellin, Colombia. The event will gather CRA members, bike activists and public figures from academic, political and social fields from across the American continent in order to strengthen the international Ciclovía movement and present new projects seeking to optimize the social, environmental, economic, and health benefits of Ciclovía programs. The three-day meeting includes discussion panels, debates, presentations, and an international exhibition on pro-cycling projects.

The 18th Brazilian Transport and Traffic Congress, organized by the Asociación Nacional de Transporte Público (ANTP), will focus on urban mobility as an integral component of the sustainable development of Brazil. As Brazil becomes an increasingly global economic player and prepares to host both the 2014 World Soccer Cup and the 2016 Olympic Games, the 18th Congress recognizes the ever-importance of hosting urban mobility discussions that incorporate the social, economic, and environmental sustainability of Brazilian cities.

Among topics to be discussed are national mobility policy versus economic development; urban mobility and global warming; urban mobility in view of the energy mix; reduction of public transport fees and costs for purposes of social inclusion; permanent funding in infrastructure and technology; and quality of transport services and environmental sustainability.

Rail~Volution is a four-day conference that brings together citizens, activists, developers, business leaders, planners, local elected officials, transit operators, government officials and many others to engage in thoughtful discussion about building livable communities with transit.

This year's conference brings Rail~Volution close to the policy and decision makers who will shape the dialogue in the coming U.S. election year. It encourages attendees to delve into the United States' big questions: "What is the next American dream?" and "Whose responsibility is livability?" It lets individuals explore the latest on authorization, as well as the successful local and regional efforts to create livable communities in and around the country's capital. This year's conference will include more than 75 workshops, networking events, charrettes and toolbox sessions.

The Congreso Chileno de Ingeniería de Transporte (Chilean Congress of Transport Engineering) is the main activity of the Sociedad Chilena de Ingeniería de Transporte, affiliated to the Ingenieros de Chile. Congreso is the biannual meeting of the academic and professional Chilean transport community, involving professionals and specialists from the public and private sectors. The conference aims to disseminate and discuss the main research and applications of transportation engineering through scientific papers, poster presentations, exhibition of projects and discussion workshops in several areas of specialty.

Congreso, sponsored by the Sociedad Chilena de Ingeniería de Transporte, is organized by the Engineering Faculty at the Universidad Diego Portales and held at the UDP Extension Center.
