What:
In order to face ever more complex mobility needs and to provide a complete mobility solution to their customers, public transport companies and organising authorities are building intermodal strategic alliances with combined mobility services such as taxis, bikes and Car-Sharing. As stated in the UITP strategy for the sector, this will help public transport companies to become true mobility providers.
The UITP Combined Mobility Platform invites you to learn how car-sharing, bikes and taxis can support public transport and how a successful collaboration is mutually beneficial. Moreover, it helps to create a culture of more sustainable travel choices by citizens. A special focus will be set on Business travel options through Combined Mobility Services.

Velo-City Global 2010: Different Gears, Same Destination
SUM-Türkiye and partners attend global conference on cycling in Copenhagen
Environmentalists, researchers, urban planners, nonprofit leaders and politicians from all over the world came together June 22-25 in Copenhagen to attend the Velo-City Global 2010 conference.

The Transportation Directorate of Antalya Municipality held its first cycling workshop on June 30 to July 2, led by the Interface for Cycling Expertise (I-CE).
"We aim to integrate bicycle in our transport planning," said Director of Transport Nazif Altınpınar. "Antalya deserves to have a 'state of art' bicycle network and infrastructure."

The Transportation Directorate of Sakarya Municipality hosted a workshop on July 7-9 about “Cycling Inclusive Urban Transport Planning," led by the Interface for Cycling Expertise (I-CE). The event was the second in a series of workshops, the first one of which was held on May 26-28.
Adapazarı is the capital city of Sakarya Province on Turkey’s coast with the Black Sea. As one of the major metropolitan areas of Turkey, the city has grown continuously since the mid-1950s. Tragedy struck the entire region in 1999 when a strong earthquake rocked the city and delivered substantial damage.
What:
World Car Free Day will be an opportunity to find another way for just one day to get around town, leave the car at home and walk, take a bus, train or cycle around town. All this is to help highlight the pollution caused by cars, not just the fumes but the whole cycle of waste and disruption, the noise, delayed journeys, the whole human misery caused by traffic congestion and car pollution. Almost 40% of the transport sector's CO2 emissions are produced by the use of private cars in cities.

What:
The 2010 edition of the ECF Velo-city conference series is the first Velo-city conference under the name Velo-city Global to bring together cycling experts and professionals from all over the world in Copenhagen, Denmark's capital. From June 22-25, 2010, it will highlight the bicycle's potential to enhance the quality of life around the world and to solve global challenges such as congestion, obesity and climate change. By going global in ‘cycling city’ Copenhagen the conference is celebrating 30 years of Velo-city conferences held by the European Cyclists' Federation and the previous host cities.
We have chosen the conference name “Different Gears - Same Destination” because we believe that despite our differences, we are all heading in the same direction. We come from different backgrounds, are at different stages and might have different challenges, depending on whether we live in New York, Rio or Amsterdam, but we share the common goal of getting more people cycling throughout the world

What:
The Pro Walk/Pro Bike 2010 conference's theme this year is Bringing Livable Communities and Regions to Scale. Chattanooga and the southeast region will serve up examples of what can be done in small and mid-size cities and rural regions to make livable communities come to life.
We're looking to showcase good bike/ped projects that were built with stimulus money; trans-discipline approaches to building livable communities; programs and approaches that can demonstrate promising environmental and policy solutions, and ensure meaningful results to the people who are affected; projects that make it possible for people of all ages and abilities to walk and bike everywhere all the time.
