Volvo Buses has received an order for 184 articulated buses from Stockholm, Sweden. The buses will be used for passengers expected to park their cars outside the city when Stockholm introduces environmental charges next summer.

According to a variety of transportation experts, motorization is soaring everywhere, with the fastest growth occurring in Asia and Latin America. The result could be serious environmental and social disruptions throughout the world.

Auckland has less traffic problems than other cities of the same size. But its high level of motorization and rapid growth require concerted aciton to avoid serious future problems.
