A global database showing the use of Bus Rapid Transit systems was released Monday to enormous consumer interest as more communities consider the growing trend in commuter transportation.

This database – www.brtdata.org – is the most ambitious, globally encompassing effort to map out BRT systems around the world and will include a web portal, which is publicly available for anyone wishing to access information about BRT data.

The organization’s new “Global BRT Data” database — produced in conjunction with the BRT Centre of Excellence, naturally — promises to let regular people (and transit wonks) compare BRT systems and bus corridors in 134 cities in 36 countries.
