CTSS-Andino Opens Advisory Office for Transport Operators in Arequipa
Service designed to manage risk for sustainable transport projects

The Center for Sustainable Transport and Health Andes (CTSS-Andino) opened an advisory office on March 20 for transport operators in Arequipa, Peru.

The new service, established with support from the Andean Development Corporation (CAF -- Corporción Andina de Fomento), will provide city transport operators with advice about financial, legal and transport-related issues.

The Municipality of Arequipa prohibited the use of vehicles more than 25 years old for public transport services last month, despite a city-wide strike in protest of the new law.

The Center for Sustainable Transport and Health Andes (CTSS-Andino) supported Mayor Simón Balbuena's decision to remove a total of 720 "highly polluting" public transport vehicles from the streets.
